Makinex gets highly commended from A-Plant

Makinex were very happy to be awarded Highly Commended at the A-Plant Innovation Week, held in early July.

Makinex General Manager Paul Weaver travelled from Sydney Australia to the UK to present our award winning Powered Hand Truck 

Over 300 companies applied to to have their products reviewed and just 30 companies were chosen, Makinex being one of them.

Paul Weaver presented a brief history of Makinex along with the features and benefits of the product and the awards won over the last few years.

A-Plant chose 5 companies to present a highly commended award to.

Makinex are looking forward to working closely with A-Plant in the future.

Makinex are finalists in Optus My Business Award

Makinex Construction Products has been shortlisted for the prestigious Optus My Business Awards.

 

Makinex Construction Products has been shortlisted as a finalist to win the awards in the Innovator of the year category at the 2017 Optus My Business Awards, the premier event of the year for SMEs.

 

Founded in 2004, Makinex offers a range of products to the global construction industry. The award they’ve been nominated for recognises their innovative range of products which provide solutions to not only the construction but also landscaping, equipment hire, infrastructure, materials handling and other related industries.

 

The Optus My Business Awards, which covers 28 categories, acknowledges best practice within a particular industry sector, as well as individual business leaders, excellence in customer service and achievements in innovation, corporate social responsibility and workplace culture.

Winners from all categories will be automatically shortlisted for the highly coveted Business of the Year Award.

Adam Zuchetti, editor of My Business, said Australian SMEs are at the leading edge of innovation and customer service excellence, as represented by this year’s Optus My Business Awards finalists.

“My Business is extremely proud to showcase those companies and their leaders that are thriving by pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo across a diverse spectrum of industries,” Mr Zuchetti said.

“Determining this year’s finalists was no easy feat, with our selection panel working through an outstanding calibre of entries and the highest submission rate for the awards to date.

Rory Kennard, CEO at Makinex said he was humbled by the nomination.

 

“Makinex’s recognition for its excellent contribution to the global construction industry reinforces the strength of the brand in connecting with the community and engaging with its customers,” he added.

 

The winners will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner on Friday, 10 November at The Westin Sydney. Wish us luck!

Congratulations! 10 years for Paul Weaver

A huge congratulations to Paul Weaver our MD and Co Founder who today is celebrating 10 years with Makinex.

Paul joined the Makinex team in the very early stages of the business when it was called Work Smart Equipment, seeing the business through changes, product launches and a growing team. Paul has been instrumental in the massive growth Makinex has seen over the last 10 years.

Paul started with Makinex as the Sales Manager he has extensive product knowledge and built some friendships that will last a lifetime.

Paul has recently moved to Managing Director  and is looking forward to seeing the business achieve its BHAG of 20 products in 20 countries in 20 years.

Makinex would not be here if it wasn’t for Paul and Rory,  they are a powerhouse team and we are looking forward to celebrating with Paul and seeing the business continue to grow.

Presented annually in conjunction with the World of Concrete, the MIP Award program showcases many products exhibited at the show. The MIP award program allows World of Concrete attendees and audiences of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, MASONRY CONSTRUCTION, and THE CONCRETE PRODUCER an opportunity to vote for the products they judge as most innovative.

Winners are also selected by a panel of industry experts, many of whom serve on the World of Concrete Educational Advisory Board, as well as by the editors of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, MASONRY CONSTRUCTION, and THE CONCRETE PRODUCER. Winning products are chosen based on the innovation they bring to the industry.

Makinex on Sky News – Technology Behind Business

 

Recently Rory Kennard was asked to be on Sky News – Technology Behind Business program.

The show champions innovative businesses changing the status quo.

Rory speaks about what drives him and Makinex as a business and the way we are leading innovation within the construction industry.

Many of our products are lead by innovation and especially the Hose 2 Go and Powered Hand Truck really lead the construction equipment industry and solve with real problems that make working easier and more efficient.

 

 

Award winning product on 3 continents

 

 The Makinex Powered Hand Truck gets GOLD at the RER Annual Innovative Product Award.It has been a year of recognition for the PHT-140. It started with the UK based Executive Hire Show, Innovation Trail Award early in 2016, and continued to win the most innovative product at the Australian Hire Show, and the Good Design Award in May 2016.

It has become a hit with most of the leading national rental companies in North America and Australia, and is getting known among smaller, independent rental companies as well.

As occurs every year in the USA, a panel of a dozen rental industry judges review a bunch of products for RER’s annual Innovative Product Award. This year more than 40 products were entered and narrowing it down to three finalists was no easy task for our judges.

Makinex grows and so does their team of experts.

Makinex Construction Products continues to grow, launching new products, into new industries and territories with new experienced team members.

They are happy to introduce a new National Sales Manager – Stuart Reynolds.

Stuart has a plethora of industry knowledge and contacts with 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has sold and been associated with brands such as Master Finish, Chapin, Marshalltown, Bartell and Easymix.

 

He brings with him strong experience in change management which will support Makinex in its current growth period and will be looking at growing their dealership network and relationships.

 

Stuart says that he hopes to build business growth and the Makinex brand profile across a greater breadth of the market, utilising his skills, experience and knowledge to better service and support the Australian Market, with products that provide consistent performance benefits.

 

As Stuart moves into this role, we also congratulate Paul Weaver on moving to Group General Manager. Paul will be looking at more strategic elements of the business, leading them to bigger and better things, allowing Rory Kennard to take a more design led route within the company, ensuring Makinex continue to design and manufacture innovative products that make inefficiencies extinct.

Makinex win Good Design Award

Safe Work Australia recognises Makinex Construction Products with award for good design

Last Friday evening makinex were the proud winners of the inaugural Safe Work Australia Award for Good Design.

Makinex Construction Products submitted their powered hand truck into the annual Good Design Awards, which promote the very best in design, innovation and creativity at a national and international level.

“Makinex Construction Products was found to excel in their approach to safe work design and was judged as best design across all categories for safety in construction, use and maintenance, safety innovation, sustainability and health and safety impact,” said Safe Work Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ms Michelle Baxter.

“A focus on health and safety in design helps eliminate hazards and risks before they enter the workplace. Good work design can radically transform the workplace in ways that benefits the business, workers, clients and others in the supply chain.”

The Safe Work Australia Award for Good Design was selected from finalists across all categories in the 2016 Good Design Awards. Makinex Construction Products were presented with their award as part of the 2016 Good Design Awards ceremony on 27 May 2016.
